that the prices of many vegetables increased significantly during January, in
some cases by more than 100 percent, according to Ad-Dustour News.

Barmawi said that
the increases were the result of the impact of winter, which froze vegetables
grown in some regions of the Kingdom, adding that the supply of some varieties
of vegetables to the central market has decreased recently, while demand before
the onset of the cold front had increased, which contributed to an increase in
the prices of some of them.
Barmawi said that the
ministry is following up with the Ministry of Agriculture to tackle the rise in
prices, and expressed hope that prices will decrease and return to normal in
the next few days.
