AMMAN — Chairman of the Zarqa Governorate Council
Majid Al-Khudari deplored the Ministry of Health’s lack of responsiveness in

The Prince Faisal
Hospital, the only public hospital in Rusaifeh, is seriously overcrowded,
especially in the emergency department, and suffers from a severe shortage of
medical and nursing staff and beds, he said.
Khudari
reiterated the need to lend support to the hospital, hire specialized doctors
and other medical personnel, and expand it; he urged the minister of health to
visit the hospital and to familiarize himself with the reality, to witness the
overcrowding, saying that the occupancy rate stands at over 90 percent.
He stressed that
the solution to the problems of Prince Faisal Hospital lies in expanding it
substantially, adding that there is a project to expand the hospital through an
international grant of JD10 million, but the project is still stalled.
The hospital’s
emergency department has only three doctors who look after more than 500
patients daily, which constitutes a great burden on the department and its
staff, according to the hospital’s Director Gazi Sharkas.
