Amman – HRH Princess Basma bint Ali, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia, inaugurated the second seasonal winter food and rural heritage festival on Monday.

The event, organized by the Women's Empowerment Unit in the Shara Municipality in collaboration with the Southern Badia Associations, showcased the efforts of 17 associations from across the Southern Badia.
The festival aims to support and inspect women's projects in the region, focusing on empowering local women economically and socially. It featured a wide range of handmade products reflecting the region’s heritage, including embroidery, ceramics, natural soaps, and aromatic plants.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Jamal Fayez, Director of the Hashemite Fund for the Development of the Jordan Badia, Salem Zawaideh, Director of Mreigha District, and various community leaders.
During the opening, Fayez emphasized that these festivals serve as a development incubator for the region, helping associations become leaders and role models in the Jordanian Badia. He also highlighted the importance of partnerships in empowering women to contribute to sustainable development.
Princess Basma toured the exhibition and was briefed by members and leaders of the participating associations on the economic feasibility and impact of their projects, which create job opportunities and improve living conditions for local communities.
The event also featured artistic performances and poetry recitations. At the end of the festival, Princess Basma received two commemorative shields from the municipality and participating associations in recognition of her support.
