AMMAN  — On Sunday, HRH Princess Basma bint Talal, the honorary president of Save the Children in Jordan, applauded the achievements done by the organization last year despite the significant challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

During her attendance at the regular general assembly meeting of Save the Children, Princess Basma expressed her appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the assembly since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, through which the organization was able to reach the children and their families and offer them the support needed to mitigate the effects of the pandemic. 

The princess commended the efforts of the organization’s former general assembly.

She expressed her confidence in the new general assembly and its creative potential in upgrading and developing the service provided by the organization to meet the organization’s goals and aspirations and in reaching the targeted groups.

During the meeting, Princess Basma heard a presentation by the executive director of Save the Children, Diala Khamra, on the organization’s work since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and the various programs and activities it has implemented.

Khamra said that despite the current circumstances of the pandemic, the organization, which had reached some 120,000 beneficiaries of children, youth, women, and families over the last year. 

She also shared that Save the Children had adapted all its programs and activities to the conditions imposed by the pandemic.

The organization had launched a virtual education platform for early education and continued to offer numerous vocational training programs, active parenting sessions, good health practices, and teacher training through visual means.

She had also ensured that targeted families were provided with decent livelihoods in several areas of the Kingdom and the refugee camps.
