AMMAN —
Independent Election Commission (IEC) spokesperson Jihad Al-Momani on Saturday said that its Board of Commissioners
will hold a meeting this week to set the dates for provincial and municipal
council elections, and
Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) election, according to
Jo24 website.

Momani said that according to the Local Administration Law,
the commission has four months during which to prepare for elections, expected
to be held in March 2022.
The commission is currently preparing committees and
inspecting voting centers, training trainers who will later train the committee
members on the elections mechanism stipulate in the recently drafted elections
law.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister
Bisher Al-Khasawneh said
provincial and municipal council elections will be held in accordance with the
provisions of Article 35 of the Local Administration Law No. 22 of 2021.
The Cabinet said the GAM council election will be held in
accordance with the provisions of Article 6 of the GAM Law No. 18 of 2021.
The prime minister sent a letter to the Independent Election
Commission, asking it to take the measures needed to holding elections, based
on the provisions of the two related laws.
