AMMAN— The
Public Safety Committee paid inspection visits on commercial markets and shops on Friday in various areas in
Irbid in order to maintain the safety of the foodstuffs and
to control and dispose the violating goods, according to Jo24.

The committee
consists of Irbid’s assistant governor Omar Al-Qudah, and the Director of Food
and Drugs Organization for the Northern Region, Eng. Ahmed Al Sheyab, and Director of Market
Supervision in the
Greater Irbid Municipality Mahmoud Al-Shayyab.
During the
tour, food products displayed under the sun, such as cheese, which must be kept
refrigerated, were destroyed, in addition to nearly expired dates. Inspections
also included poultry shops to ensure the validity and quality of the offered
products.
During the
past few days, the committee inspected many food establishments in various
areas in Irbid, where some were closed and others were shut down temporarily for
violating the necessary
health requirements and standards that pose a threat to
the safety of the citizen.
The committee
stressed it will not tolerate anything that affects the citizen's food and
safety, and that it is keen to maintain all forms and types of food safe and of
high quality.
