AMMAN — During the first 10 months of
2022,
Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 6,557,424 passengers,
registering a 81.15 percent increase, and 14.13 percent decline against 2021
and 2019 figures, respectively.

QAIA also witnessed 57,389 aircraft movements, 56.45
percent more, and 15.37 percent less than the figures recorded during the same
periods in 2021 and 2019, respectively, according to a press release issued by
Airport International Group (AIG) on Sunday.
QAIA also handled 51,283 tonnes of cargo through
October, marking a 6.73 percent rise, and 40.03 percent drop compared with 2021
and 2019 figures, respectively.
“We remain committed to growing our airline and
destination networks through strategic decisions, together with our various
stakeholders, in order to maintain our standing, value, and success as Jordan’s
prime gateway to the world, while continuing to provide our passengers with a
unique and welcoming travel experience that is on par with world-class
standards,” said AIG CEO Nicolas Claude.
During the month of October, 722,238 pasengers
traveled through QAIA, up 33.35 percent from 2021, and down 0.08 percent
compared with 2019.
Additionally, QAIA experienced 5,926 aircraft
movements, a 15.16 percent growth, and 9.5 percent drop compared to 2021 and
2019 figures, respectively.
QAIA also handled 5,349 tonnes of cargo, a decline
of 13.62 percent, and 42.70 percent,
compared with 2021 and 2019, respectively.
AIG is a
Jordanian company made up of local and international investors with proven
experience in airport rehabilitation, enhancement, operation, and management.
In 2007, following an open international tender, the
government awarded AIG a 25-year build-operate-transfer concession agreement to
manage the rehabilitation, expansion, and operation of QAIA.
