The airport received 62,661 aircraft movements, 50.5 percent
more and 14.9 percent less than the figures recorded during the same periods in
2021 and 2019, respectively. As for year-to-date cargo figures, QAIA handled 56,355
tonnes, marking a 6.3 percent rise and a 40.2 percent decline compared with 2021
and 2019, respectively.
During November, 619,803 passengers traveled through QAIA, up
32 percent and down 1.3 percent compared with 2021 and 2019 figures. Meanwhile,
the airport witnessed 5,272 aircraft movements, up 6.6 percent growth and down 9.2
percent drop compared to November 2021 and 2019. QAIA also handled 5,072 tonnes
of cargo, recording a 1.8 percent increase and 41.5 percent decrease compared to
2021 and 2019.
“Although passenger figures for
November 2022 remained slightly below those reported during the same month in
2019, the gap is being reduced by new passenger profiles, mainly tourists
arriving thanks to the efforts of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), which recently
launched the ‘Kingdom of Time' campaign across Europe, promoting Jordan as a
tourist destination,” AIG CEO Nicolas Claude said.
AIG is a Jordanian company comprising local and
international investors. The government awarded AIG a 25-year build-operate-transfer
concession agreement to operate QAIA in 2007.
