Doha- Jordan is participating with around 40 poems in the seventh edition of the "Poet of the Prophet Muhammad" award, organized annually by the Qatar Cultural Village Foundation "Katara."اضافة اعلان

According to a statement posted on its website today, Katara announced that it had received 1,105 poems for participation in the seventh edition of the competition, marking a 22% increase compared to the sixth edition, which received 861 entries.

The statement mentioned that Egypt, Sudan, and Somalia had the highest number of submissions, with 347 entries.

This was followed by the Levant and Iraq with 255 entries, then the Maghreb countries with 247 entries, and finally the Gulf countries with 224 entries. Additionally, 32 entries came from non-Arab countries.

The Gulf countries recorded the highest participation in the Nabati poetry category, with 90 entries, and 134 entries in the classical poetry category.
The total value of the awards for both classical and Nabati poetry is 3.8 million Qatari riyals (1.04 million USD).

Each category has three awards: the first-place winner receives one million riyals, the second-place winner gets 600,000 riyals, and the third-place winner earns 300,000 riyals.

The award committee will also publish the winning poems in a collection that includes the best 30 poems praising the Prophet Muhammad, with 15 poems from classical poetry and the same number from Nabati poetry.
