Doha - Qatar has imported nearly 100 tons of various types of Jordanian dates from the start of the year until the end of the third quarter, according to the Qatari Planning and Statistics Authority. This marks an 8.7% increase compared to the 92 tons imported during the same period last year.

The most sought-after varieties include the renowned "Medjool" dates, followed closely by "Barhi." Jordanian dates are noted for their competitive quality and pricing, making them a preferred choice among consumers in Qatar, especially when compared to other imported varieties, including those from the United States.
As the local markets in Qatar expand and demand rises, imports of Jordanian dates have shown significant growth. This trend reflects Jordan's established reputation for high-quality date production and marketing.
Qatari traders and importers attribute the increase in imports to the efforts of local companies to meet the growing demand, driven in part by rising visitor numbers and tourists attending major events in the country.
The continued rise in Jordanian date imports highlights the strengthening economic and trade ties between Qatar and Jordan, with ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
