According to a statement from the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, the launch of the air bridge was attended by Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mariam bint Ali Al-Misned, Qatar's Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization Dr. Hussein Al-Shibli, CEO of Qatar Charity Yusuf bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, and representatives from the Qatar Fund for Development and the Qatar Red Crescent. This step reflects Qatar’s deep commitment to continuing humanitarian support for the Palestinians in Gaza.
Al-Misned was present for the signing of an agreement between Qatar Charity and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization to facilitate the entry of Qatari humanitarian aid via Jordan.
The agreement involves cooperation between the two sides in transporting and distributing aid in an organized and safe manner.
The statement pointed out that this aid comes at a crucial time, as the Gaza Strip is suffering from a severe health crisis due to a critical shortage of medicines and medical supplies.
Statistics show that many hospitals and health centers in Gaza are struggling to provide necessary medical care due to significant shortages of essential medicines and supplies.
The Gaza Strip faces a shortage of 49.6% in basic medicines and 33% in necessary medical supplies, which puts additional pressure on medical teams working under harsh conditions.
The statement clarified that this initiative will support the stability of the health situation in Gaza by improving the level of healthcare for patients and reducing the incidence of epidemics and infectious diseases, through the provision of essential medicines, especially antibiotics.
It added that these supplies will enhance the capacity of hospitals and health centers to provide more efficient and effective medical care, thus relieving the burden on medical staff.
The provision of tents, along with the medicines, will increase the ability of Qatar Charity to support families who have lost their homes due to ongoing attacks, giving them a chance to live temporarily in a safe and protected environment until conditions improve.
For her part, Al-Misned stated that since the beginning of the ceasefire, Qatar has delivered 65 trucks of relief aid across the Jordanian border.
She added that as part of the continuation of this land bridge, today, two helicopter flights were sent carrying vital medical aid to northern Khan Yunis.
She confirmed that this aid is part of the collaboration between the Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Charity, and the Qatar Red Crescent, and she added, "We have provided 20,000 tents, which were shipped via the land bridge from Qatar to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and we are working with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization to deliver them to our brothers in northern Gaza."
In turn, the CEO of Qatar Charity stated, "After forming the joint committee for Qatari aid to Gaza, represented by the Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Charity, and the Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Charity was tasked with managing the Qatari aid file.
Today, we are at King Abdullah Air Base in Jordan to launch basic medical aid to Gaza via the Jordanian air bridge and to initiate land convoys through the Jordanian corridor in partnership with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, which includes shelter tents to help our brothers in the sector. At the same time, and in order to manage and organize the expected aid, we have rented a storage facility for Qatari aid covering 4,000 square meters, with 1,000 square meters of refrigerated space in partnership with the Military Consumer Corporation."
In this context, Dr. Al-Shibli, the Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation between the Jordanian and Qatari sides to ensure the efficient and rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the brothers in Gaza.
He added, "This partnership is an extension of the humanitarian role played by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization in coordination with the donor and partner entities to ensure that the necessary support reaches our people in Gaza.
We are committed to facilitating the passage of aid through Jordan and providing everything necessary to ensure it reaches its recipients in an organized and safe manner, especially given the dire humanitarian conditions in the sector."
Dr. Al-Shibli also stressed that the organization will continue its diligent efforts to provide the required logistical support and enhance cooperation with various humanitarian organizations to ensure the sustainable flow of aid, which will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the people of Gaza and improving their living and health conditions.
