During a comprehensive tour covering all project phases, Samen emphasized the need to complete the main works in the project by the end of this year. This is in preparation for handing over the project to the operator to commence trial operation in the first quarter of the next year, Ammon News reported.

Samen expressed dissatisfaction with the delay of some works in the project compared to the established schedule, especially in the third phase. He directed the concerned parties in the ministry to monitor the work on a daily basis, provide detailed reports on the progress of the work, and activate the contract clauses to address any shortcomings.

Samen highlighted the developmental and economic importance of the project, in addition to its positive impact on improving the public transportation system, reflecting positively on the services provided to citizens.

He stated that the government relies on this project to enhance transportation services and alleviate traffic congestion. It is worth noting that the Amman-Zarqa Rapid Bus Transit (RBT) project is divided into four phases, with a total length of 20 km and a total cost of approximately JD140 million, funded by the Investment Fund for Social Security Funds.

The project includes the expansion and reconstruction of the road serving vehicles with three lanes in each direction (at a minimum), and two lanes in the middle to serve rapid transit buses. It also involves the construction of completely new bridges and tunnels, raising the service level at intersections, installing pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, rainwater drainage, sewage systems, lighting, traffic safety measures, necessary diversions, and removing various obstacles, including water, communication, and electricity lines, all in accordance with the highest global engineering standards.

The completion rate in the project, according to packages, reached 96 percent in the first phase, except for the slaughterhouse bridge, 98 percent in the second, 87 percent in the third, and 99 percent in the fourth.
