AMMAN — International Day of Solidarity
with the Palestinian People, which falls on Tuesday, represents a “state of
human awakening” on Israel’s crimes and injustice on the defenseless and
besieged people, who have suffered a long policy of apartheid that should end,
Secretary-General of the
Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA) Abdullah
Kanaan said.

In a press statement marking the occasion, he said
the RCJA called on the world to focus its attention on this day by taking
historic decisions to support UN resolution issued on November 29, 2012, which
granted Palestine the status of a UN observer member state.
The process should realize full recognition of Palestine’s
membership in the UN, which reflects its historical, legitimate, and legal
right to self-determination, and the establishment of its state on its national
soil on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, he said.
On this occasion, he called on achieving a
continuous approach to protecting the Palestinian people, and defending their
rights.
“True” solidarity
with the Palestinian people means global attention to their rights by all
global powers, away from the policy of double standards, and support to Israel,
he said.
He also called on supporting the Palestinian people
to lift Israel’s economic and social restrictions, urging the free media to
expose Israel’s practices, and shed light on suffering of the Palestinian
people.
At the Palestinian,
Arab, and Islamic levels, Kanaan urged pan-Arab unity to support Palestinians’
steadfastness, and support the Hashemite Custodianship over
Jerusalem’s Islamic
and Christian holy sites.
