AMMAN — Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) celebrated
the inauguration of a new direct air route by Royal Jordanian Airlines,
connecting the capital cities of Amman and Stockholm. The route will offer two
weekly flights on Mondays and Thursdays, providing a convenient link between
Jordan and Sweden.

The International Airport Group (IAG), in a recent
statement, highlighted the significance of this achievement, underscoring the
collaborative efforts between the group, RJ, and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB)
to enhance connectivity between Amman and major global destinations, Hala News
reported.
The inaugural flight received a warm welcome with a
traditional water arch salute. Among the esteemed guests in attendance were the
Swedish Ambassador to Jordan, Alexandra Rydmark, along with representatives
from IAG, RJ, and JTB.
Expressing her delight, Ambassador Rydmark emphasized the
positive impact of direct flights between the two capital cities, facilitating
closer ties and fostering greater opportunities across various sectors.
Bolstering inbound tourismNicolas Claude, the CEO of the IAG reiterated the group's
commitment to expanding its network of destinations. This expansion aligns with
the national strategy aimed at bolstering inbound tourism to Jordan through
Amman, inviting travelers to discover the country's diverse treasures.
Claude emphasized that establishing a new direct air route
to Stockholm is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
Meanwhile, Karim Mekkawi, Chief Commercial Officer of RJ,
highlighted that the new Amman-Stockholm route marks the airline's third
addition to its European network, following successful connections to Lyon and
Milan.
In addition, starting in September, RJ will introduce
flights to Dusseldorf and Brussels.
