AMMAN — Since the start of the
rain season,
precipitation levels have surged to 97.1 percent of Jordan's long-term annual
average of 8.1 billion cubic meters, amounting to 122.2 percent of the total
rainfall recorded in 2022, the
Ministry of Water and Irrigation announced on
Sunday morning.

This time last year, total precipitation had only reached
72.7 percent of the annual average, Ammon News reported the ministry as saying.
The
highest rainfall recorded in the Kingdom over the
previous 24 hours was in Tafileh, which witnessed 34.3mm of precipitation.
Recent downpours channeled 750,000 cubic meters of water
into Jordan’s dams, bringing their storage up to 120.5 million cubic meters, or
43 of their total capacity of 280.759 million cubic meters.
