During the opening speech of a dialogue
session with the private sector and media outlets, Minister of Agriculture
Khaled Huneifat said on Wednesday that the ministry is looking to carry out a
comprehensive national water harvesting project to address the effects of
climate change, most notably water scarcity due to fluctuating rainfall.
To that end, the ministry has expanded
water harvesting and water-saving projects and granted green energy loans for
projects and agricultural industries, Huneifat said. He noted that 63 farm dams
and harvesting pits were constructed in 2022, bringing the total number of water-harvesting
facilities to 163.
