The decisions are based on official announcements (35) and (36) for the year 2021, which were issued by Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh, pursuant to the provisions of Defense Order (19) for the year 2020.

The announcements will also allow home delivery services for restaurants and pharmacies till 3am and until further notice.

Regarding closed sectors, Khasawneh has instructed the higher framework committee, tasked with addressing the pandemic’s repercussions, to study the decisions needed to gradually reopen the sectors in question, starting June 1, while also accounting for developments to the Kingdom’s epidemiological situation and the progress of the vaccination process — the cornerstone of hopes for a safe summer.

Sectors covered by the gradual reopening will be announced within the coming period.

Public sector working hours will also remain the same, from 8am to 2:30pm, until further notice, and with exception to institutions whose work demands different or longer working hours.

Private sector institutions must still operate at a 50 percent capacity until further notice, with exception to institutions whose work requires otherwise. Employees who have recovered from COVID-19 or who have received the vaccine can return to working in person.
