AMMAN — A conference entitled
"Women, a Player in Stability and Comprehensive Development" was held
in Jordan on Saturday morning, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The event was organized by the
Senate's Women's Committee in partnership with the Sociological Arab
Association and the German Organization for International Cooperation. The
conference is part of a larger project aimed at enhancing the political and
economic participation of women in the Middle East and North Africa.
Senate President Faisal Fayez
patronized the conference, which brought together experts, policymakers, and
advocates to discuss the role of women in promoting social stability and
development in the region.
Social stability and developmentIn her opening remarks, head of the
Senate Women's Committee Maysoon Atoum highlighted the vital role of women in
promoting social stability and development. She stressed the importance of
women's participation in all aspects of life and their integration into the
political and economic community.
Atoum noted that Jordanian women
have achieved many successes at the local, Arab, and international levels and
have the potential to advance in many sectors and take leadership roles.
Women's empowerment in JordanAtoum also underscored His Majesty
King Abdullah's keen interest in women's empowerment, as evidenced by the Royal
Committee to Modernize the Political System and the economy. She called for a
"mature" approach to addressing women's rights to achieve a society
where everyone participates in real development.
Other speakers at the conference
emphasized the need for women to have a robust role in society, development,
and decision-making.
They also stressed the importance of
incorporating women's issues into public policies and national programs and
priorities.
