AMMAN — Influential Jordanian
calligrapher and painter
Farouq Lambaz has passed away on Sunday in Amman at
the age of 79.

Lambaz was widely known and
praised for his distinct approach to painting, which was described as a unique
Arabesque style. Many of his works also use Islamic calligraphy and art,
encompassing a variety of colors to promote Islamic and Arabic heritage
artistically.
According to Khatt Foundation,
Lambaz was born in Amman in 1942 and obtained a Law degree from the
University of Damascus.
He was involved in numerous art
and music exhibitions since completing his education. Some of the most notable
solo exhibitions that Lambaz was involved in include the 1982 Alia Art Gallery
Exhibition, the 2007 Lines Gallery Exhibition, and the 1984 Jordanian Art
Exhibition presented in Beijing, China.
He also served as the Promotion
and Design Section director for
Royal Jordanian Airlines between 2001 and 2002.
In the summer of 2021, he helped organize a musical evening hosted by the Abdul
Hameed Shoman Foundation, called “Andalusia
and Farouq Lambaz’s Muwashshahat.”
Art collectors have purchased his
works from numerous countries, including the US, Sweden, and England. He has
also been awarded a Fourth Order Medal, known as the Order of the Star Medal,
from His Majesty the late King Hussein of Jordan.
