AMMAN —
Khalil Al-Abdallat, director of the human rights
unit at the prime minister's office, affirmed that the rights of persons with
disabilities are a high priority in the Jordanian state's concerns, and that
this issue receives significant royal attention.

He emphasized that His Majesty
King Abdullah emphasized
at the
Global Summit on Persons with Disabilities the importance of
integration, inclusivity, political and economic engagement, and the
empowerment of persons with disabilities.
During the consultative meeting held by the
Human Rights Unit at the Prime Minister's Office with the Supreme Council for the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities,
Abdallat stated that continuous efforts are being
made by the government and all relevant partners to ensure that persons with
disabilities enjoy their fundamental rights and freedoms, Jordan News Agency,
Petra reported.
Ghadeer Al-Haris, acting secretary-general of the Supreme
Council for the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities, highlighted other
accomplishments related to education, employment, and accessibility, in
addition to the challenges that may hinder the
speedy implementation of some
recommendations. As a result of Jordan's efforts in this field, Jordan, along
with the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Disability Alliance,
was chosen to host the Third Global Disability Summit, scheduled to be held in
Berlin in early 2025.
