AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday will remain under the impact of
the hot and dry air mass, as mercury levels are expected to rise 7-9 degrees
above annual average, bringing sizzling weather conditions across the Kingdom,
the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
The highs in Amman and other highlands across the Kingdom today will range between 35°C and 39°C, dropping at night to 23°C or
even 19°C in the southern highlands. In the gulf city of Aqaba, it will be much
hotter with mercury reaching a high of 41°C, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
On Friday, the heat wave will start to subside in the
western parts of the country, so it will be fair in the hilly areas and the
plains, and hot in other regions, with clouds at various altitudes, and
northwesterly moderate to brisk winds, stirring dust in the desert, the JMD
predicted.
