The General Department of Statistics, in its report on agricultural producers' prices issued today, stated that the increase in the index was driven by higher prices for several crops, notably potatoes, zucchini, and eggplants, which accounted for a relative importance of 61.0%.

Conversely, the index showed a decline in the prices of tomatoes, colored sweet peppers, and bananas, which had a relative importance of 39.0%.

On a monthly basis, the index for November 2024 increased by 26.3%, reaching 122.1 points compared to 96.7 points in November 2023.

The report attributed this rise to higher prices for tomatoes, white cabbage, and thyme, with the relative importance of these crops accounting for 74.2%. Meanwhile, the index decreased for crops such as cucumbers, carrots, and bananas, which represented 25.8% relative importance.

The report also highlighted a 19.8% rise in the index for November 2024 compared to October 2024, reaching 122.1 points compared to 101.9 points.

Comparing November 2024 with the previous month, the prices of crops such as green sweet peppers, colored sweet peppers, and red lettuce rose, with a relative importance of 41.4%.

In contrast, the index fell for crops like cauliflower, lemons, and oranges, with a relative importance of 58.6%.

The General Department of Statistics noted that it has revised its methodology for collecting agricultural price data.

A specialized technical committee, including members from the department and the Ministry of Agriculture, implemented recommendations from the Permanent Experts Committee for Agricultural Statistics under the National Agricultural Strategy. To enhance data quality, the updated methodology relies on monthly agricultural price data for all crops collected from central markets.
