AMMAN — Director General of the
Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Nizar Mheidat, discussed technical details to establish an Arab Drug
Agency with representatives from Arab drug authorities.

The discussions came during the first meeting of Arab drug
oversight authorities, organized by
Arab League at the headquarters of the
Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) in Riyadh, according to a statement
released by the JFDA as reported by Petra News.
In a statement, Mheidat shared the agency’s establishment
would enhance capabilities of
pharmaceutical manufacturing in Jordan and Arab
countries by strengthening coordination and integration among various Arab drug
authorities.
He added that this would strengthen relations drug bodies
and
open new markets for medicines and supplies manufactured in Arab countries,
which contributes to supporting and boosting the Arab economy.
Mheidat also highlighted JFDA's continued coordination, cooperation and
exchange of "distinguished" expertise in the pharmaceutical sector
with Arab countries to achieve pan-Arab drug integration, accelerate procedures
for registering Jordanian drugs and medical supplies in
Arab countries and open
new markets for them.
