AMMAN — A committee comprising five municipal presidents was formed to
coordinate on local investments in the Roman ruin city of
Jerash, mayor Mohammad
Abu Rumman said.

The
committee is chaired by Abu Rumman and includes Jerash council and experts
specialized in investments in the governorate, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
Abu Rumman told Al-Mamlaka that the committee aims at attracting and
encouraging investments in Jerash and facilitating the work of investors by
removing any potential obstacles they may face.
Poverty blights 20.3% of Jerash’s 262,100 people.
Unemployment is
estimated at 21.1%, while the per capita income is JD1,740 said Maysoun
Al-Khasawneh, an assistant governor involved in development.
She said attracting investment to the governorate and launching new
projects would mitigate the
poverty and unemployment rates.
