In a statement on Saturday, on the occasion of the
International Youth Day (IYD), Kanaan referred to the pressing and prompt need
to support young Jerusalemites in line with the supportive pan-Arab and Islamic
stances.
Despite the comprehensive Israeli restrictions,
Jerusalem’s youth still constitute the first line of defense for Palestine, he
said. He cited their initiatives to revive the holy city’s economic conditions
and develop their skills to join the labor market.
Kanaan maintained that other initiatives seek to
expose Israel’s practices in the town of Silwan and Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah
neighborhood.
RCJA affirms Royal directives, primarily His
Majesty’s calls for the necessity to engage youth in the decision-making policy
and push the reform path forward, he said.
On the educational level, Kanaan stressed the need
to revisit Jordan’s school and university curricula and educational platforms
to teach mandatory courses on the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem.
This plan would also counter Israel’s programs that
tamper with Palestine’s history and its Arab identity, which would retain
Jerusalem alive and keep Jerusalem’s youth at the forefront of pan-Arab
priorities, he added.
