During the meeting, Safadi emphasized the urgent requirement to promptly and adequately deliver humanitarian and
medical aid to Gaza.
He added that the region is grappling with a humanitarian catastrophe due to sustained Israeli aggression and hindrances in providing sufficient assistance.
Safadi cautioned against the repercussions of prolonged hostilities and Israel's violations of international and humanitarian laws. He particularly highlighted the perilous escalation of Israeli actions in the West Bank and called for a cessation of all provocative and illegitimate Israeli measures leading to heightened tensions in the region.
Both Safadi and Blinken concurred on the critical importance of ensuring the substantial and sustained delivery of aid to Gaza. They rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians within or outside the Gaza Strip and emphasized the necessity of facilitating the return of displaced Gazans from the northern regions to their homes.
Safadi stressed the futility of proposals that perpetuate the separation of Gaza from the West Bank. Instead, he advocated for a comprehensive plan that upholds the Palestinians' right to freedom and an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in adherence to the two-state solution.
The ministers mutually agreed to maintain communication for ongoing discussions on ceasefire efforts, aid distribution, civilian protection, and a genuine commitment to resolving the conflict and achieving a just peace through the two-state solution. Additionally, they delved into bilateral and regional matters during their meeting.
