Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad Al-Safadi received Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Omar Ahmad Karim Al-Barzanji, at the Parliament on Sunday, where they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly at the parliamentary level.

Al-Safadi and Ambassador Al-Barzanji affirmed that brotherhood and affection will always be the hallmark of Jordanian-Iraqi relations, emphasizing that the strong historical and deeply rooted ties between the two nations must be built upon to serve the interests of both peoples.
Al-Safadi highlighted that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is always keen to enhance various aspects of cooperation with its Iraqi brothers. He stressed the importance of joint parliamentary coordination in serving the interests of both countries and addressing key regional issues.
He added that His Majesty has consistently emphasized the pivotal role of Iraq in the region, and that all Jordanian institutions are committed to building strong and enduring ties with Iraq. He called for continued mutual efforts to capitalize on the many common interests the two nations share.
Ambassador Al-Barzanji, for his part, stressed the importance of boosting joint cooperation, especially in parliamentary affairs, as well as expanding economic, cultural, and educational exchanges.
He affirmed the strength and resilience of the Jordanian-Iraqi relationship, stating, “We consider Jordan a strong and solid shield for Iraq, and we will not allow anyone to undermine or delay the progress of our bilateral relations.”
The ambassador also noted the consistent stances of both countries, particularly in rejecting foreign interference in their internal affairs, especially during the fight against the terrorist organization ISIS and other threats along their shared borders.
