AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Affairs and Expatriates
Ayman Safadi discussed in Washington on Tuesday with
the official in the US State Department’s Office of Population, Immigration,
and Refugees
Nancy Jackson, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in refugee
issues, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He also discussed continuing to provide financial and political
support to UNRWA.
On Monday, Safadi began a working visit to the US, during which he
will meet with US Secretary of State
Anthony Blinken, senior administration
officials in the US State Department and the National Security Council, members
of the US House of Representatives and Senate, and American research and
academic organizations and centers.
During
his meetings, Safadi will discuss a number of issues, including ways to
strengthen strategic relations between the Kingdom and the US in various fields.
Talks will focus on the new memorandum of understanding that the two countries
are working on, as the current memorandum expires at the end of September 2022.
This memorandum represents the framework governing the provision of annual
US aid to Jordan, which last year amounted to about $1.6 billion.
