AMMAN — Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and
Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, held a meeting with the Special Envoy of the Chinese
Government to the Middle East, Zhai Jun, on Monday. The discussions centered on
efforts to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.

They also delved into the crucial topic of
delivering
immediate humanitarian assistance to Gaza, in strict accordance with
international and humanitarian law, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding
civilian lives, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.
Safadi stressed the urgent imperative of
ending the humanitarian crisis stemming from the ongoing Gaza conflict. He
warned, "Should this war persist, it has the potential to drive the region
towards a perilous precipice, with far-reaching security implications."
Furthermore, Safadi underscored the
significance of the resolution recently adopted by the United Nations General
Assembly, which was put forward by Jordan. This resolution underlines the
immediate need to halt the ongoing hostilities, protect civilians, and honor
legal and humanitarian responsibilities. He expressed gratitude to China for
endorsing and voting in favor of this resolution.
He noted that this resolution aligns with the
fundamental humanitarian values and principles upon which the United Nations
was founded.
Safadi extended his appreciation to China for
its stance in the United Nations, which supports both the cessation of
hostilities and the provision of essential humanitarian aid. He emphasized the
crucial role of the Security Council in upholding international law, preserving
peace, and bringing an end to violence and warfare.
