AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister
Ayman Al-Safadi met on Sunday with his Palestinian counterpart,
Riyadh Al-Maliki, in Amman.

In a
tweet, the Foreign Ministry said that the meeting of
the top diplomats comes within the context of continuing efforts and
coordination between Jordan and Palestine to confront Israel’s illegitimate
violations and aggression in occupied Jerusalem, against its holy sites, and in
the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
During the meeting, of international and regional efforts to reach a ceasefire and end Israeli aggression on Gaza. He also commended Egypt’s “great efforts” in mediating the ceasefire, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Kingdom, he added, will continue to devote its energy to protecting Jerusalem, its Islamic and Christian holy sites, and the legal and historical status quo, which is a top priority for their custodian, His Majesty King Abdullah.
Meanwhile, Maliki commended the Kingdom’s efforts to stop Israeli violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif and its aggression on the Gaza Strip. He also commended Jordans role in supporting the Palestinian people and their rights and praised Jordan for the humanitarian aid it sent to Gaza.
The two ministers underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination in order to protect the rights of the people of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood. They added that there is a need for the international community to prevent Israel from committing the war crime of displacement.
