AMMAN — A Ramadan iftar banquet was
held on Thursday at a local church in the city of Salt for dozens of orphans
and children living in shelters, Khaberni reported.

The banquet was organized by various local
associations in the gathering hall of the Deir Al-Latin Church.
Before the banquet, the Maghrib call to
prayer was sounded, signaling the end of the fasting time.
200 childrenThe event was held for the second year and
aimed to serve around 200 children from shelters and orphanages, one of the organizers,
Raya Khleifat, said.
"The city of Salt, as is the case in
the rest of the Kingdom, has been characterized since ancient times by a spirit
of intimacy and love among its different religions, Muslims and Christians,"
she said.
"Therefore, as you can see, the iftar
and the call to prayer took place inside the church hall,” she continued.

The event will be repeated three times
during the holy month of Ramadan, she added.
‘Message of love and peace’Michel Fachouh, head of the Love and Mercy
Association, one of the organizing parties, said: "Through this event, we
wanted to confirm the message of love and peace and the depth of the continuous
relationship between Muslims and Christians in the local community."
In 2021, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee
included Salt, "The Place of Tolerance and Urban Hospitality", in the
World Heritage List.
