Amman – The Press Freedom and Protection Center has restructured its Board of Directors, appointing former Prime Minister Samir Al-Rifa'i as Chairman, effective from January 1, 2025.اضافة اعلان

The Center announced that Samir Al-Rifa'i, the former Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Senate, has accepted the position of Chairman.

Joining the new Board are: Member of Parliament and lawyer Dina Al-Bashir, Member of Parliament Abdul-Baset Al-Kabareeti, lawyer Dr. Omar Mashhour Al-Jazi, managing partner at "Al-Jazi & Partners Lawyers and Legal Consultants," media personality Dana Al-Sayyagh, former Executive Director of Al-Mamlaka TV, and Ms. Wajeeha Al-Husseini, former Corporate Communications Manager at Umniah.

The Center clarified that the reshuffle did not involve all previous members, as several continued in the new Board, including: media personality Suzan Afana, former Minister of Tourism and partner at "Advice," Mr. Mohammad Al-Saqr, Chairman of the Board of Extensia, and former CEO of Zain, journalist Abdul Wahab Zghilat, Chairman of the Arab Journalists Union's Freedom Committee and former Editor-in-Chief of Al-Rai Newspaper, lawyer Mohammad Qatishat, media expert and former Director of the Media Commission, as well as media personality Nidal Mansour, founder of the Press Freedom and Protection Center. This completes the Board with 11 prominent members.

The Center expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the previous Chairman and Board members who resigned, including former Prime Minister Taher Al-Masri, Minister of Government Communications Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, and other members who contributed significantly to the Center’s mission.

Samir Al-Rifa'i, Chairman of the new Board, stated that the Center will continue its efforts to improve the media landscape and strengthen relationships with various parties to support media freedom and enhance Jordan’s image in global indices.

He added, "For more than 25 years, the Press Freedom and Protection Center has made a positive impact on media development, defending journalists' rights, and becoming a trusted regional and international reference for evaluating the state of media." He emphasized that the new Board will continue to provide support to the Executive Management to maintain its work independently and ensure resources are available for its continued success.

Founder of the Press Freedom and Protection Center, Nidal Mansour, welcomed the new Chairman and Board members, noting that they will contribute to developing policies and strengthening governance in the Center’s operations.

The Center’s Board serves as the highest authority, consisting of public figures and specialists in media, human rights, public affairs, and civil society, responsible for shaping policies and initiatives to support media freedom and journalists' rights. Additionally, the Board oversees the strategic direction, funding, and partnerships of the Center, ensuring governance and transparency.
The Press Freedom and Protection Center, recognized for its pivotal role in media development and human rights protection, was granted membership in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), underscoring its significance. Its 2022-2025 strategy has yielded notable results, and the Center plans to develop a new strategy for 2026-2029.
