Foreign Minister Ayman
Al-Safadi met with bin Farhan and the two top diplomats “underlined the deep
fraternal ties between the two kingdoms and their leaderships,” a Foreign
Ministry statement said.
Safadi “conveyed the
greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques
and his appreciation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s constant support for
Jordan,” according to the statement.
The two ministers also
stressed that “the security and stability of the two kingdoms are integral and
inseparable” as both stand together in the face of challenges.
In response to a
question by CNN as to whether Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan
had requested the release of former Royal Court chief Basem Awadallah, the
Saudi foreign ministry said: “The minister was in Amman to reassure Saudi
Arabia’s stance in support of Jordan,” adding that: “The minister did not
discuss any other issues or make any requests.”
