The implementation of the first phase of the
project, which includes infrastructure works (tracks and roads) worth JD225
million, was carried out during the years 2014-2023. The third phase includes
restructuring the feeder network. The project aims to solve traffic congestion
and
public passenger transport problems safely, reduce accidents, and
environmental pollution, and preserve the road network by reducing the number
of transport vehicles, operational costs, and fuel consumption.
Connecting suburbs with the express bus
routes, aimed at organizing the existing public transportation lines currently
surrounding the high-frequency bus project in Amman, will increase the demand
for
high-frequency buses, reflecting positively on the project's objectives. It
will also regulate the current state of public transportation in these areas
through "canceling, merging, or establishing" lines, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.
The project's timeframe is from 2022 to 2024,
with a cost of JD1 million for technical studies, and implementation will be
carried out through Amman Vision Company.
Regarding the implementation of the project to
study feeder lines for the express frequency bus project Amman-Zarqa, the
specified timeframe is from 2025 to 2028, and the cost will be determined after
completing the study.
The strategy indicated that there is a project
to establish a "Station" passenger terminal during the period from
2023 to 2026, with a value of JD31 million, serving the express frequency bus
project.
Regarding the Tareq Azzal/Ain Ghazal link
completion project, the strategy explained that the expected completion date is
in 2024. The project's value is JD20 million, including the construction of a
tunnel and two bridges at the Tareq Azzal intersection to serve buses and
traffic movement, as well as the construction of two passenger terminals
equipped with pedestrian bridges, elevators, and escalators. This project is
part of the second package for linking with the Amman-Zarqa express frequency
bus.
There is a project to operate green
(environmentally friendly) buses in the express frequency bus project. The
execution period is from 2025 to 2026, with a cost of JD7.5 million. Electric
buses will be operated accounting for 10 percent of the total buses to evaluate
the experience.
