Security investigating vandalism of Jerash ruins

AMMAN — Vandals spray painted an archaeological column and some other vestiges in Jerash, sparking outrage on social media, according to a local news outlet. اضافة اعلان

Director-General of the Department of Antiques Fadi Balawi said that the column will be cleaned using scientific methods, a process that will take “a great deal of time and effort,” and that security officials were notified to investigate the case and identify the perpetrators.

According to Balawi, some people lack awareness of the importance of archaeological in Jordan, at a time the Kingdom is seeking to attract more tourists to these sites.
