Shawarbeh named Amman mayor

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Yousef Shawarbeh as mayor of Amman. During the session, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the cabinet also appointed members of the Greater Amman Municipality Council: the secretaries general of the Tourism Ministry, and the Environment Ministry, the Department of Lands and Survey director-general, and the Cities and Villages Development Bank director-general. The membership of the Amman Council also includes the Land Transport Regulatory Authority director-general, the Central Traffic Department director, the Jordan Water Company general manager and the Jordan Electricity Company general manager. It also includes the representation of the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the Amman Chamber of Industry. The Cabinet decided to refer the head of the Legislation and Opinion Bureau, Fidaa Hamoud, to retirement and to appoint Qassem Abdo in her stead. AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday appointed Yousef Shawarbeh as mayor of Amman.

During the session, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the cabinet also appointed members of the Greater Amman Municipality Council: the secretaries general of the Tourism Ministry, and the Environment Ministry, the Department of Lands and Survey director-general, and the Cities and Villages Development Bank director-general.
