AMMAN —
State Minister for Media Affairs and government spokesman
Faisal Shboul said on
Monday that the media scene needs to regulate the relationship between national
media institutions, in addition to tightening monitoring of social media
platforms and separating them from responsible media institutions, according to
Al-Mamlaka TV.

He pointed to the
decline in advertising revenues in national press and media institutions in
favor of social media platforms, whose large profits often goes abroad.
He noted that
there are countries that have organized the process of sharing profits from
social media platforms, and that Jordan seeks along with other Arab countries
to organize this process.
Speaking before
the
Lower House Finance Committee, Shboul pointed to the austerity budgets
allocated to the Radio and Television Corporation. and the Jordan News Agency
adding that these institutions suffer because of their modest budgets.
The chairman of the Board
of Directors of
Radio and Television Corp., Ghaith Tarawneh, said that the
institution is the voice and image of Jordan, and that it is required to make
the message of the Jordanian state. He said the corporation needs a larger
budget to deliver its message to the world in an optimal way, pointing that the
JD24.8 million budget allocated for 2022 is considered too little.
