In a meeting with Tamim Al-Qasrawi, member of the
Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) board of directors, Varga said the Slovak trade
mission and its ACI counterparts will hold joint business meetings, said the
Jordan News Agency, Petra.
ACI said in a statement Saturday that Qasrawi
asserted the importance of the Slovak market for Jordanian exports. He said
Slovakia presented a gateway to the EU and Eastern European countries, mainly
the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Croatia.
These markets, Qasrawi added, are “promising” for
Jordanian industries, especially in light of the Kingdom’s free trade
agreement with the EU He said that
Jordan could give Slovak products access to the markets in the Arab Gulf
region, as well as Iraq and Syria.
Jordan is an “attractive” area to foreign
investment, due to its “distinguished” geographical location, which makes the
Kingdom a gateway to markets in the Gulf Arab region and Iraq, Qasrawi
explained.
Jordan’s free trade agreements open many world
markets to the Kingdom’s exports, he said, pointing to ACI’s intention to
organize a Jordanian economic delegation’s visit to Slovakia to bolster
bilateral economic ties.
On the trade exchange, he said Jordanian exports to
Slovakia are “modest,” estimated at nearly $1 million in 2021, compared with
imports worth $14 million, mainly of vehicles and machinery.
