The forum, organized by the World Bank under the slogan "The Power of Influence," brought together leaders, decision-makers, and experts from around the globe.
Speaking at a "Women, Business and the Law Report" session, Bani Mustafa highlighted Jordan's achievements in empowering women, particularly in the private sector. She emphasized reforms such as increasing women’s representation on boards of directors, noting that women's economic integration remains a top priority under Jordan’s modernization vision.
Bani Mustafa explained that Jordan's collaboration with the World Bank advisory team to address legislative gaps improved the country’s ranking in the Women, Business and the Law report. She stressed that these efforts align with the Economic Modernization Vision and royal directives focusing on increasing women's economic participation and ensuring supportive work environments, as outlined in the government’s mandate.
She noted that amendments to the Labor Law over the past year resulted in significant reforms, including the prohibition of gender-based workplace discrimination, the removal of restrictions on women’s employment in various industries and professions, and the introduction of a legal definition of harassment with tightened penalties.
The amendments also expanded maternity leave and enhanced workplace rights for women, reflecting Jordan's commitment to creating equitable work environments and promoting women’s contributions to the economy.
The forum served as a platform for dialogue to enhance women’s influence in economic and societal roles, explore their contributions to technology, innovation, and partnerships, and advance their impactful participation in various sectors globally.
