AMMAN — Insurance and social protection expert

Corporation (SSC) began its operations with the implementation of the Social
Security Law in early 1980, Khaberni reported.

Among them, approximately 1.2 million
subscribers are non-Jordanians.
Subaihi added that an important indicator of
the cumulative number of subscribers is that the majority did not receive a
retirement pension. Only 8.3 percent of the cumulative number of subscribers
have received retirement pensions as of now.
He explained that the rest either received a
one-time compensation for their subscription period or remain inactive
subscribers.
Regarding Jordanians only, Subaihi stated that
the percentage of those receiving retirement pensions from the total cumulative
number of Jordanian Social Security subscribers does not exceed 11.5 percent,
noting that this is a very low percentage that should be carefully studied.
He clarified that the current number of active
subscribers has reached 1.543 million, with non-Jordanians constituting 13
percent of them, while females make up 28 percent of active subscribers.
