The Southern Military Zone foiled a drug smuggling attempt early this Monday morning on its western border and within its area of responsibility. The attempt involved smuggling drugs, a small drone, and control devices using a drone.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army said: "The border guards in the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with the military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, were able to thwart the attempt to smuggle drugs, a small drone, and control devices using a drone that tried to cross the border." The source clarified that engagement rules were applied after the drone was detected and monitored, and it was dealt with and shot down inside Jordanian territory. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities.
The source confirmed that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to utilize their various capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
