Snow and rain continue to fall across the governorate, especially in the more affected southern areas and Al-Ays highlands. Strong winds and dense fog, particularly along the Al-Ain Al-Bayda road toward Busaira and Rashadiya, are further complicating conditions.

Accumulated snow has led to road closures in parts of Busaira and Qadisiyah. Official machinery has begun clearing the affected roads, while several areas in Tafilah are experiencing icy conditions due to temperatures dropping below freezing alongside strong winds.

Emergency teams, supported by the Public Works Department, municipalities, Civil Defense, police, and the Joint Services Council, have been mobilized to clear main and secondary roads in affected areas.

During an inspection of road clearance operations and emergency response centers, Tafilah Governor Dr. Omar Al-Zayoud stated that authorities had successfully reopened roads blocked by heavy snowfall since Wednesday night. He noted that around 50 government and private sector vehicles, including snowplows, were on standby to respond to potential road closures and evolving weather conditions.

He emphasized that continued snowfall in the southern parts of the governorate has caused partial road closures and hindered traffic flow. However, the preemptive emergency measures have helped mitigate disruptions, with multiple field teams actively working to keep key roads open.

The roads in Busaira, Gharandal, Qadisiyah, and Rashadiya—part of Tafilah’s southern highlands at an elevation of 1,640 meters above sea level—remain passable with extreme caution. Meanwhile, the Sharif Al-Janoub road is experiencing snow accumulation, ice formation, and reduced visibility due to dense fog. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while using these roads.

Ali Al-Nan’anah, Mayor of Qadisiyah Municipality, reported that approximately 70% of both main and side roads in Qadisiyah have been cleared. Snowfall has also covered Dana Village and vast areas of Qadisiyah, which sits over 1,640 meters above sea level. He confirmed that municipal and public works teams continue their efforts to clear roads from varying snow accumulations.

Tafilah Public Works Director, Engineer Ammar Al-Hajaj, stated that field teams supported by heavy machinery are working to keep roads open. The teams are operating under an emergency response plan, with all equipment linked to the main operations room to handle road closures promptly. Salt spreaders have also been deployed on key roads to mitigate ice formation.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the Tafilah Electricity Distribution Company, Engineer Bakr Al-Rawashdeh, confirmed that emergency teams have addressed household outages and power grid disruptions, particularly in Qadisiyah and Busaira. Despite harsh weather conditions, maintenance crews have been working to restore electricity in affected areas.
