AMMAN — A recent study reveals that approximately five
billion individuals, accounting for over 60 percent of the
world's population,
use social media, which is nearly equivalent to the number of internet users.
This indicates a 3.7 percent increase compared to the previous year. In Jordan,
local experts highlight that there are around 6.61 million social media users
as of January 2023.

Data shows that
Facebook had 4.90 million users in Jordan,
while Twitter had 921,000 users at the beginning of 2023, as Ammon News
reported. According to the population clock of the
Department of Statistics, Jordan's population was approximately 11.44 million individuals.
The study also revealed an increase in the amount of time
users spend on social media, averaging two minutes more, reaching a daily total
of two hours and 26 minutes.
Meanwhile, each user has accounts on seven social networks.
Four of the most popular applications globally are owned by
Meta, including
WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
China contributes three of the most widely used applications
in the world, namely WeChat,
TikTok, and Douyin (the Chinese version of
TikTok).
The list of the most popular social media platforms also
includes Twitter and Telegram.
