This review is aimed at identifying ways to enhance network efficiency and
transition to smart grids.
The initiative will be paired with a broad-based project to
upgrade conventional meters to smart meters, in collaboration with power
distribution companies.
Enhance voltage performance and minimize electrical lossesThe overarching goal is to enhance voltage performance and
minimize electrical losses.
Speaking at a symposium hosted by the German University on Thursday, Hamza
shared that the ministry's objective aligns with Jordan's economic vision for
2023, specifically in terms of boosting the share of renewable energy and
modernizing high and medium-voltage power transmission networks into smart
grids, and expanding infrastructure for electric vehicle charging systems.
Hamza underscored the need for a robust and sustainable power system in order
to progress with the development and deployment of an advanced, resilient
electrical infrastructure. This advancement, he said, will harness cutting-edge
global technology to facilitate a smooth transition in the energy landscape.
Hamza emphasized the importance of awareness among sector partners regarding
the need to stabilize the Kingdom's electrical system, especially in light of
efforts to transition towards reliance on clean energy sources by 2050.
He expressed gratitude for the contributions of partners such as the German
Agency for International Cooperation, the US Agency for Development, the
European Union, and the French Development Agency.
