AMMAN — The
star of Suhail appeared at dawn on Wednesday,
August 23, a sign that summer is almost at an end and that September rains are
to be expected soon,
Jordanian astronomer Imad Mujahid told the Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

He indicated that the yellowish-white Suhail normally
appears on August 23rd of every year and was considered a sign of the changing
of seasons before modern-day
astronomical calculations were invented.
The blazing heat of the summer is expected to gradually
ease, setting the scene for
lovely outdoor weather at night-time, while the
imminent September rains, which may cause torrential rains in different regions
of the
Arabian Peninsula and the Levant, will be mostly beneficial for the
lands and surface waters.
