Suspect in child stray bullet death arrested

AMMAN — Police apprehended on Sunday a suspect in the stray bullet death of a 12-year-old boy in the northern governorate of Jerash, a spokesperson for the Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement. On October 20, the Jerash Governorate police were notified that a child was struck by a stray bullet near his residence and later died in the hospital. An investigation team gathered information and apprehended anyone who had been hosting a celebration or social event at the time of the incident where some individuals may have engaged in “festive firing”. Forensic ballistics examinations linked a gun to the bullet that killed the young boy after police zeroed in on a prime suspect and seized weapons. The PSD warned the public against engaging in “festive firing” to avoid the death or injury of innocent people.
