AMMAN — The Syrian American Medical
Society (SAMS) has concluded its multi-specialty medical mission to Jordan with
the support of the Ministry of Social Development, represented by Dr Mohammed
Jalabneh, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of
Development, and Istishari Hospital.

Over the course of six days, SAMS and its
partners provided free medical services and free medicine across 19 medical
centers and five hospital with the participation of 52 volunteers from the US,
France, and Kuwait. SAMS also offered capacity-building programs for health
sector workers, including a scientific day at the Faculty of Medicine at
Hashemite University, according to a press statement issued by SAMS on
Thursday.
The mission provided medical services to
more than 4,000 beneficiaries, including 100 dental surgeries, 15
reconstructive surgeries, 177 in-kind surgeries, 28 gastro endoscopies, and 55
interventional heart procedures, according to Dr Ammar Ghanim, a member of
SAMS' Board of Directors.
In the statement, Dr Jalabneh expressed his
appreciation for SAMS' mission participants and praised their efforts to
provide treatment and quality healthcare for those in need, in addition to
their contribution to the development of the medical profession through
exchanging knowledge and experience.
Dr Bassel Atassi, SAMS' mission leader to
Jordan, said: "The cooperation between SAMS and the Ministry of Health is
of strategic importance, especially concerning the development of programs and
activities such as the integration of rehabilitation and psychological support
services through the ministry's comprehensive health centers, in addition to
receiving cases transferred by the ministry to the SAMS medical mission."
