AMMAN — The chairman of the board of
commissioners of the
Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC), Engineer
Bassam Al-Sarhan, led the Jordanian delegation participating in the Conference
of Plenipotentiaries held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in
the Romanian capital Bucharest.

The meeting, which runs from September 26 to October
14, is convened under the slogan of “communicating communities”, with the broad
participation of heads of global regulatory bodies, and companies of the global
telecommunications and information technology industry, according to Ammon
News.
The conference is the most important event for ITU’s
official members. It is the highest body of the federation responsible for
reviewing the union’s constitution and convention, making decisions on the
development of public policies, and approving strategic and financial plans, in
addition to the election of senior management represented by the
secretary-general, the deputy secretary-general, the directors of the main
sectors and the member states of the council, according to Sarhan.
Orange Jordan, being part of the Jordanian
delegation, participated in the conference. It was represented by the Executive
Director of Legal Affairs Ibrahim Harb.
It also sponsored a banquet held by the Jordanian delegation
participating in the event, which was attended by the heads of participating
delegations, representatives of telecommunications companies and the Jordanian
ambassador in Bucharest.
