The program also aims to develop a comprehensive and empowering societal and institutional environment for women by addressing numerous issues and challenges that impede women's participation. It also seeks to implement recommendations made by governmental and civil institutions, as well as the goals of the National Strategy for Women. These goals align with the aspirations of modernization visions.

"Jordan has made remarkable strides in gender equality and women's rights, with legislation playing a vital role in advancing progress in women's participation and leadership roles, providing opportunities that facilitate their empowerment and engagement in various spheres," said Roselle Agner, Director of Tawazon program.

Agner added that Tawazon, which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by a consortium of Jordanian and international NGOs including Mercy Corps, Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development, Al Jidara, Plan International, and Solidarity is Global Institute–Jordan builds upon Jordan’s achievements in elevating the status of women and empowering them socially, economically, and politically.

In partnership with the public and private sector and civil society, the Tawazon activity aims to develop and implement strategies to promote equitable social norms and foster leadership competencies.

Tawazon’s efforts are founded on extensive research and data around legislative barriers, social norms, leadership competencies, and their impact on gender and women’s empowerment. Implementation of identified recommendations stemming from the research will be supported by a grants program to invest in transformative approaches to advance women’s empowerment.
