AMMAN — After a series of
arrests of a number of activists and teachers during the past few days, the
suspended Teachers’ Syndicate (JTS) launched an electronic campaign through
social media platforms expressing its rejection of the arrests, namely with
relation to the teachers, which human rights experts consider a violation of
the Jordanian constitution, according to Amman Net.

The campaign carried slogans and calls to stage a sit-in
in front of the Ministry of Education on Tuesday to protest the suspension of
its functions, in addition to demanding the freedom of teachers Anas El-Gamal
and Ramez El-Batran, and to drop the charges against them.
Head of the Syndicate legal committee Basil Al-Hroub said
that launching the electronic campaign is a message to decision-makers to stop
restricting the syndicate’s freedoms that are guaranteed by the constitution.
Local media received hints that the sit-in would be prevented by local
authorities.
